Gilbert Joint Motion

An active life in Gilbert

This page helps you stay active in Gilbert without overdoing it.

How can I stay active around Gilbert?

Flat ground can still strain a sore knee or hip. A long walk, court game or afternoon beside a field adds up. Choose an outing you can shorten. Stop while you're still walking normally. Summer heat may move your activity into a cooler hour. You can still overdo the walk when the weather feels better.

Count all the time spent on your feet.

Where can I control my walking distance?

The Riparian Preserve at Water Ranch has flat paths with easy turnarounds. Pick a walking time you already handle well. Keep the pace unchanged before you add minutes. A short rest still counts as part of the outing. If your joint is much stiffer next morning, shorten the next walk.

Turn back before soreness makes you limp.

Where is the nearest QC Kinetix clinic?

The verified nearest clinic is in Chandler, not inside Gilbert. It is at 1100 S. Dobson Rd., Suite 210, Chandler, AZ 85286. From the Heritage District, the trip is roughly 8 miles and 18–22 minutes in ordinary conditions. QC Kinetix offers visits there. Its medical providers are the clinicians who examine your joint and perform care. They can explain regenerative treatment choices, which use a needle to place prepared material from your body into the sore joint.

Call (602) 837-PAIN before you drive over.

How do court days add up?

Court play asks more from a joint than straight walking. Quick stops and side steps raise the strain quickly. Standing before or after a game counts too. Decide how long you'll play before starting. Carrying gear adds load. A firm seat can leave your joint stiff. Remember both when you check soreness next morning. You may need a shorter game, a softer chair or rest afterward.

Your joint feels every part of the outing.

  1. The Cochrane review of land-based therapeutic exercise for knee osteoarthritis extracted data from 54 studies, with high-quality evidence from 44 trials (3,537 participants) that exercise reduces pain immediately after treatment, and further high-quality evidence that it improves physical function. Benefit attenuates but persists for at least two to six months after the programme ends.

  2. In 1,212 Osteoarthritis Initiative participants aged 50+ with knee OA, those who walked for exercise had a LOWER likelihood of developing new frequent knee pain than non-walkers (odds ratio 0.6, 95% CI 0.4-0.8), and less progression of medial joint space narrowing - evidence against the belief that walking wears the joint out faster.

  3. A 52-week single-blind randomized comparative-effectiveness trial in 204 people with symptomatic knee OA found Tai Chi twice weekly for 12 weeks produced WOMAC improvement of 167 points versus 143 points for standard physical therapy, a non-significant between-group difference of 24 points. Benefits were maintained to 52 weeks and the Tai Chi group had significantly greater improvement in depression and the physical component of quality of life. No serious adverse events occurred.
